Nigel Yates is a singer-songwriter and alternative folk musician based in Hertfordshire.  He crafts original songs with a vintage, analogue sound - incorporating alternative tunings and drones to unravel stories inspired by folklore and magical thinking.

Voice and acoustic guitar usually lead the way, but as song and story develop, layers of percussion, mandolin, electric guitar or classic synthesiser sounds are added to create an immersive soundscape.  This rich combination intentionally evokes the nostalgic texture of 1970s recordings, making the music feel both timeless and eclectic.  

The Trees was released as a single in December 2025.  An EP is set to follow around the end of 2026.
